Northern Ireland vs. The UK

When I was in Ireland, I was told about the Province of Ulster, Northern Ireland. I read an article about it to understand the problems within Northern Ireland further. The Province of Ulster is a Province of U.K. and consist of three fourths protestants and one fourth catholic. The one fourth Catholic wants independence from the british and wants to become part of the Republic of Ireland. This desire has caused violence and a huge separation between the Catholics and protestants. Sinn Fein, which in Gaelic means we ourselves, is the political group of Catholics. They have been seen as a terrorist group because they have used violence in hopes of getting their independence. In 2005 The Sinn Fein announced that they would stop the violence but many believe that the violence will continue in time. This is very interesting to me because it seems to be similar to ETA. Both groups are fighting for their independence.
